On the way to dial-up hell…
July 10, 2007My mother and stepfather, who have spent upwards of a hundred grand remodeling their house in the last year (and are now engaged in a landscaping project that really should be called terraforming), have been dithering for eighteen months about getting high-speed service through a satellite company. That’s what’s available in their area. They do most of their investigative work and communicate with their company exclusively online.
But the high speed service is $50 more a month, and it would involve the dreaded address change, and so I’m going for a week to the land of dial-up. It’s actually a wonderful and relaxing thing after the first shock – I’m taking six dolls and the sewing machine and the kid for Gram to spoil.
I am working on the next Beautiful Thoughts, featuring Pollyanna caught coming in far too late, Annabelle in her dressing gown, Eustacia with a fireplace poker, and Lorelei making sense of a ridiculous situation. And nobody can stop me! So stay tuned.
